Former Texas A&M wide receiver Mike Evans continues to build on an already impressive NFL career, with the veteran pass catcher now among the league's top 10 in career receiving touchdowns.
The NFL highlighted Evans' place on its all-time leaderboard Monday, showing the former Aggie tied with Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez for ninth place with 111 touchdown receptions. Evans is now five touchdowns behind Antonio Gates, who sits eighth with 116 touchdown receptions. The list also includes some of the greatest receivers in NFL history, with Jerry Rice leading the way at 197, followed by Randy Moss at 156 and Terrell Owens at 153.
After spending 12 seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Evans joined the San Francisco 49ers ahead of the 2026 season. Through six games, he has recorded 27 receptions for 420 yards and three touchdowns.
However, injuries have become an increasing concern for the 33-year-old receiver.
Evans caught three passes for 94 yards during Monday night's 23-17 victory over Washington before leaving with an Achilles injury. He had already been dealing with Achilles tendinitis and two broken ribs, adding to the injury concerns that limited him to just eight games last season.
Despite those setbacks, Evans has continued producing. He recently recorded 113 receiving yards and a touchdown against Seattle, earning Pro Football Focus' highest wide receiver grade of Week 5.
With injuries continuing to pile up, it's worth wondering how much longer Evans will play. He signed a three-year deal with San Francisco this offseason, but at 33, the possibility of 2026 being his final season cannot be completely dismissed.
Whether he plays another season or several more, Evans has already put together a Hall of Fame-worthy resume. His place among the NFL's all-time receiving touchdown leaders is another reminder of what he has accomplished since leaving College Station.
