Tennessee high school QB breaks record held since 2014

Antioch (TN) senior quarterback Andre Adams has been a highlight and record-breaking machine since he first stepped onto the field as a freshman.

Now the future Colorado Buffaloes quarterback sits alone atop the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association record book, holding a record that has stood for over a decade.

In a 26-7 win over Clarksville (TN) Friday night, Adams surpassed the career total offense (passing and rushing yardage) record set in 2014 by former Trinity Christian Academy (TN) standout Kyle Akin.

Adams totaled 379 yards in the win, bringing his career total to 12,732. Akin previously held the record with 12,713 yards.

He entered Friday night's game with 12,348 passing yards and 2,865 rushing yards. With Adams leading the way, Antioch went from a program that struggled to win to one on the verge of back-to-back 10-win seasons.

As a sophomore, Adams led the Bears to six wins, passing for 1,435 yards and 12 touchdowns while also rushing for 493 yards and five touchdowns.

He put it all together as a junior, leading Antioch to a 10-2 record and winning the program's first playoff game since 2007. Adams earned Mr. Football finalist honors, completing 71% of his passes for 35 touchdowns to just one interception while also rushing for 855 yards and 13 touchdowns.

With the win over Clarksville, Antioch moves to 9-0 and will close out the season at home against a Rossview (TN) side that Adams didn't play last year because he was out with an injury.
