Michael Carrick has spoken out on Manchester United’s humiliating 3-0 home loss to Bournemouth.
Evanilson’s goal in the 71st minute ended the contest between Manchester United and Bournemouth. The Brazilian’s strike made it 3-0 and ended any distant hopes of a comeback for the Red Devils.
Michael Carrick is now under major pressure. The head coach had promised a reaction against Bournemouth, and his side let him down.
The final few minutes were even more miserable at Old Trafford, with some fans walking out, and others chanting for Carrick to show their respect – out of recognition he is set to be sacked.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Carrick opened up on the low mood and low confidence among his players.
Carrick explained: “It was a strange mix of emotions at the end of the game. It wasn’t a nice way to end the game.
“It was a tough day for the players. We went into the game having been rocked. You can feel that.
“They’re really hurting and disappointed in there. It’s not a nice feeling. You have to accept it, we’re in that situation.”
Carrick said that has sympathy for his players: “I’m feeling mixed emotions. I feel for the players as they are going through a tough spell. Some of it we can help, for some the situation unravels.
“I appreciate their support but the situation is where it’s at. We haven’t been good enough.”

How much longer can Carrick last? Which players let United down?
I’m not excusing the players or directors at all - my point is there will definitely be a new manager bounce because Carrick was out of his depth. And when that bounce comes, fans will get excited again. Not to mention ex-players like Rio
Singing his name like singing Carrick's name today? Doesn't excuse the players and the directors, and a constant stream of the same will eventually turn that toxic to
I feel so sorry for him. Another managed chewed up and spat out by the mess that is Man United. Serious structural changes needed asap
Manchester United fans fear the cycle is repeating again. Nobody wants to sack another manager – but this team have earned only seven points from eight games. It is the club’s worst ever start to the season in the Premier League era.
How do you possibly carry on like this?
Carrick was asked about the next steps for him, and responded: “It’s a tough situation. What is next? I don’t know. I’ll always do what’s best for this football club. I don’t change that now. I love what I do.
“I love the responsibility. But we’ll have to wait and see.”
Carrick admits the situation is now out of his hands. Manchester United fans want more than simply managerial change – the sackings need to start with those above him.
But whether Ineos have the willingness to make those kind of bold calls remains to be seen.
