Cole Palmer is back to his brilliant best, and while he might not have got his name on the score sheet on Saturday, the England star was excellent as the Blues beat Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s Everton.
A brace from Pedro Neto was enough for Chelsea to secure a fourth Premier League win of the season, and a second successive league win. Chelsea also ended a run of 22 league games without a clean sheet.
Chelsea are up to fourth and projected to qualify for the Champions League. The feel-good factor is back at Stamford Bridge, and Palmer’s form is a big part of that, with the playmaker’s confidence clear to see.
Chelsea posted a video on X of Palmer’s confidence in full swing. With his back to goal near the corner flag, Palmer stepped one way and went the other – with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall completely outwitted.

It is possible that Chelsea’s admin knew exactly what they were doing, with Dewsbury-Hall leaving the Blues in 2025 shortly after winning the Conference League. He joined Everton in 2025 for a £30m fee.
Chelsea fans loved the video of Palmer outdoing Dewsbury-Hall, even if the former Leicester midfielder is well-liked among the Chelsea fanbase for his part in the Conference League final triumph against Betis.
@ChelseaFC KDH knew Palmer will go the other way as he did against Betis in the conference league final but Palmer was smarter 🥶

“Palmer just put Dewsbury-Hall in the freezer”, “my boy did him dirty and they used to be teammates”, and “where was Dewsbury-Hall heading?” were among the reactions of Chelsea fans on social media.

One fan even commented: “Dewsbury-Hall thought he’s still playing for Chelsea; he can’t predict Palmer’s movement.” It was a brilliant bit of skill from Palmer and further proof that he is full of confidence again.
There is no better compliment to Palmer than by saying that he is outperforming Eden Hazard, after clocking up his 140th Chelsea outing on Saturday. In that time, Palmer has had a hand in 93 goals.
Scoring 58 times, at a rate close to one every two games, Palmer has also laid on 35 assists for the Blues in that time. After 140 games in a Chelsea shirt, Hazard had only managed an involvement 76 times.
Hazard would go on to score 110 goals in 352 games for Chelsea, creating 88 more. If Palmer continues his current rate, he would clock up 234 goal involvements after 352 appearances. He’s outdoing Hazard.
