St Patrick's Athletic star looking to keep League title pressure on Shamrock Rovers

There is very little room for manoeuvre as Shamrock Rovers are six points ahead of Pat's and have two games to play

St Pats’ Anthony Olusanya

Stephen Kenny's St Pat's know exactly what they have to take the 2026 Premier Division title to the wire.

They must win tonight against Derry City at The Brandywell (8pm, Virgin Media 2) and follow up by beating Galway away and Bohemians at home on October 23rd and October 30th, respectively.

There is very little room for manoeuvre as Shamrock Rovers are six points ahead of Pat's and have two games to play, at home to relegated Sligo and away at Dundalk.

“We must just try to concentrate on our game and what we can do, not on the others” says the Saints' Finnish striker Anthony Olusanya.

“It's a tough league. It's a physical league. A good league, to be honest. It's much more tactical in Finland and Sweden and this is more physicality.

“A new style of play took a couple of matches, I think, but after that time, I think I've been adjusting just fine, like I said, very, very physical and I'm enjoying it.”

Olusnya has played eight times for St Pats, scoring twice, since coming on loan from Swedish side Kalmar - w-ho play in the country's top division the Allsvenskan - and freely admits he didn't know much about League of Ireland football before his arrival.

“Not too much. I've had some friends who played here, so a little bit, I've been in Helsinki so not too much.

"For example, Johannes Yli-Kokko, who was in Dundalk a few years back. Of course, I know Brooklyn (Lyons-Foster) from Derry, who we're going to face on Monday.

"I wanted to try something different. It is completely different from Finland and Sweden, so that was one reason.

"So, yeah, I talked to Yli-Kokko, and yeah, I was the only one who talked to him."

Olusanyo is a twice-capped Finnish international and has enjoyed his time in Ireland.

“I've been adjusting fine, I think. Even though it is quite different from Finland and Sweden.

“We're in the title race, so that's of course very interesting and very fun. Trying to enjoy these few games.

"I like the food at home, a few Finnish cuisines and, to be honest, Ireland is not that major of a difference.

" But, yeah, it's a little bit of a culture shock when I came here but I've been enjoying my time here with my girlfriend who has been a major help."
