While there will be plenty of debate and bracket projections over the coming weeks, one thing has become increasingly clear: Nebraska and Pittsburgh have separated themselves as the nation's top two teams. The Cornhuskers and Panthers have combined for a 40-1 record this season and have occupied the top two spots in the AVCA Coaches Poll for much of the year, making them the overwhelming favorites for the tournament's two top overall seeds.
The Cornhuskers — led by Harper Murray, Andi Jackson and Bergen Reilly — rank first in the nation in team hitting percentage (.332), while the defense ranks first in opposing hitting percentage (.100). The Panthers have been a nightmare against opponents with the duo of two-time player of the year Olivia Babcock and Penn State transfer Izzy Starck.
With 10 teams in the top 30 of the NCAA's RPI Rankings — an important analytical factor used by the NCAA selection committee — how many Big Ten teams will be in the 64-team bracket? Which mid-majors could be in line for one of the lower national seeds?
Here's USA TODAY Sports' projected 64-team field for the NCAA Volleyball Tournament, which takes into account games played through Sunday, Oct. 25:
