Six Tottenham players guaranteed to miss Crystal Palace amid potential double injury boost

Tottenham Hotspur have won two Premier League games in a row and Roberto De Zerbi will be hoping to extend that run when his side face Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Spurs beat Coventry City 3-1 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before securing all three points in a dramatic 2-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend. With Spurs currently 14th in the Premier League, a win could propel them as high as sixth, if results go their way.

“I was very happy about the way we played,” said Mathys Tel after scoring his side's second against the Blues. “We showed that even if it's a big team in front of us, we can play, we can keep the ball, we can stay calm on the ball.

“We have a lot of qualities in this team. The manager already told everybody that there is quality. We just needed time to create something together and I think that today is a step forward. We have to be humble and keep going, but I'm very happy, very, very happy!”

Palace have lost their last two Premier League matches - 5-0 against Brighton and 2-0 against Newcastle - but De Zerbi will be wary of the threat the Eagles pose. The Italian may get a welcome boost ahead of the clash, too, with potentially two players returning to the matchday squad.

Lucas Bergvall has not featured since the 1-1 draw with Manchester United but the Sweden international could make a return on Saturday. "Lucas Bergvall [is out] because he had a problem at the beginning of the game in Manchester," De Zerbi said ahead of the match against Coventry.

"The first chance we created with Solanke, when he (Bergvall) regained the ball, his knee, he felt pain and finished the game, but the day after Manchester, Sunday, he came to training ground to our medical staff. And I think two weeks [out]."

Tosin Adarabioyo featured in the win against Coventry but was missing from the matchday squad to take on former club Chelsea. It was a shame for the central defender after he started against Frank Lampard's side and probably produced one of the best performances on the pitch.

That performance was cut short by a suspected calf injury, and despite De Zerbi attempting to play down suggestions of an injury after the game the centre-back was not named in the squad at Chelsea. Tosin, though, and Bergvall could make their returns against Palace which would be a welcome boost to the Lilywhites.

Mykhailo Mudryk is also nearing a return but the game against the Eagles comes too soon for the Ukrainian, who is recovering from an ankle injury suffered in training last month.

De Zerbi will be hoping James Maddison can play a part against Palace after the midfielder was forced off against Chelsea just minutes into the second half. The 29-year-old has been assessed by club doctors this week and the Spurs boss will provide the latest update on Friday.

Elsewhere, Destiny Udogie missed the wins over Coventry and Chelsea due to a knee injury and remains on the sidelines. "With the medical staff, we are trying to find the best way for him," De Zerbi said on the left-back. "But after Manchester United, I have not worked with him, and it is a problem. We are lucky because in the same position we have solutions.”

Savio is another who will not be fit in time to face Crystal Palace. The summer arrival "felt a muscular problem" before the squad's trip to Marbella and may not be back until after the November international break. Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert are still recovering from anterior cruciate ligament surgeries and Rodrigo Bentancur is suspended following his red card picked up against Manchester United.

Senior Tottenham players set to miss Crystal Palace clash: Xavi Simons (knee), Odobert (knee), Udogie (knee), Bentancur (suspended), Mudryk (ankle), Savio (muscle issue), Maddison (groin - doubt).
