Arsenal's David Raya: 'I would love to play' in LaLiga one day

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has said he "would love" to play in LaLiga one day.

Raya, whose contract with the Gunners expires in June 2028, has played his entire professional career in England.

Asked about the possibility of returning to Spain, which he left in 2012 at the age of 16 to join Blackburn, Raya told Marca: "Yes, I would love to. I would love to try out LaLiga. For now, I'm very happy here [at Arsenal], but I would certainly like to experience the Spanish league.

"I think it's a very competitive league. Perhaps, in the future, I could play for a Spanish club. I'm Spanish, and I'd love to play there -- that's for sure."

Raya, 31, is coming off his best season. He helped Arsenal win the Premier League, the Community Shield and reached the finals of the Champions League and the Carabao Cup.

The former Brentford star won the Premier League Golden Glove for a third consecutive campaign.

He was part of Spain's World Cup winning squad in the summer but did not play a single minute.

"I believe I've had a perfect year," the Barcelona-born keeper said. "Perhaps the only thing missing was playing in the World Cup. Every year since I arrived at Arsenal, I've continued to improve and hopefully that will keep happening.

"But I truly believe this year, by winning the Premier League and playing a decisive role in the league, the Champions League, and the Community Shield... it has been my best season as a professional, being impactful and lifting trophies."

Raya has high expectations for this season. "I want to win it all," he said. "We want to establish ourselves as favorites, and that is our goal. Hopefully, this year we can improve upon last season by winning the Champions League, but there is still a long way to go before that happens."

Arsenal, second in the Premier League and three points adrift of Manchester City, have won their opening two Champions League games and travel to Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
