New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez talked about why he was a game-time decision in last Thursday’s matchup against the Chicago Bears.
Gonzalez, who had just returned the previous week against the New York Jets, was unexpectedly downgraded to questionable against the Bears with an illness. However, he still suited up and played in the game.
"It was tough, but I was able to play," Gonzalez told media members, via Patriots Wire's Sophie Weller.
The Patriots struggled defensively throughout the game against quarterback Caleb Williams and a talented Bears offense. They ultimately fell short on the road in a 30-24 loss, marking an end to their three-game winning streak.
Along with Gonzalez not being at 100 percent, the Patriots also dealt with multiple cornerbacks being out for the game, including Carlton Davis III, Karon Prunty and Channing Canada.
They are expected to be in a better place for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins. Gonzalez is feeling much better, and Davis is expected to make his return. Both Prunty and Canada were also full participants at practice on Wednesday.
