Alongside Estevao Willian, Kendry Paez was meant to be the next big thing at Chelsea. However, it has not worked out for the young attacker.
Neither of Paez’s loan moves have gone to plan, while he is yet to make an appearance for Chelsea’s first team. That will not be changing any time soon. In fact, it may not change at all.
Paez returned to Chelsea in the summer but is not part of Xabi Alonso’s senior squad and has been playing with the Blues’ Under-21 side instead.
In a disappointing development, Chelsea seem to have lost patience with Paez. Another loan move or permanent transfer now appears to be on the horizon.
According to Bolavip, Chelsea have not received good reports from their U21 manager about Paez and are far from happy with the 19-year-old. It is thought that they could now sanction another loan or permanent transfer.

Despite the claims that Chelsea have not been receiving good reports about Paez from their U21 boss, the Ecuadorian put in a bright performance against Liverpool’s Under-21s over the weekend, providing a nice assist. On Sofascore, Paez won 57% of the fan vote for Man of the Match.
Interestingly, Paez does not seem happy with Chelsea either, so both parties appear to be discontent with what is going on. It has been reported that Paez is ready to leave Chelsea in the January transfer window.
Since arriving at Chelsea from Independiente del Valle, Paez has had two loan spells, both unsuccessful. One was at Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg in 2025, the other was at River Plate this year.
At Strasbourg, Paez scored just one goal in 21 appearances before having his loan terminated. Fifteen of those appearances came in Ligue 1, but only four of them were starts. Why was this particular loan cut short?
As well as not being able to offer him game time, there were also concerns about his professionalism and lifestyle choices, as reported by L’Equipe at the time. As for his spell at River Plate, there were more concerns. Paez was meant to be at the Argentine club on a two-year loan but also saw that terminated early.
