Michelle Obama is giving Simone Biles her flowers.
The former first lady was asked by content creator Coach Jackie J on a recent podcast interview about her Mount Rushmore of female athletes, or the four greatest in her opinion. Obama credited tennis icons Serena Williams and Billie Jean King, as well as WNBA legend Lisa Leslie.
Then, she added Biles to round out her list.
"She can do it all. There are no words. Not only do I love gymnastics, I do think we don't give gymnasts the credit for the training, the conditioning, the physical ability. When she's doing her tumbling run, how many feet up in the air? Is it 13 feet?" Obama asked.
As USA TODAY previously reported in 2024, Biles can get as high as 12 feet off the ground during her floor routine.
Obama continued championing gymnasts during the "Is She Game?" podcast clip released Tuesday, Oct. 20, saying, "To realize how young they have to be and how little the sport has evolved from a fitness, health, nutrition standpoint. These kids were bootcamped, many suffered abuse."
Biles reacted to Obama's compliments in a post on her Instagram story: "Mrs. Michelle Obama, you made my year," she wrote with heart and tear emojis on Oct. 20.
In a 2021 interview with People, Biles said Obama has inspired her. The two met during a visit at the White House following the Rio Olympics in 2016.
"Representation matters — kids looked at her and said, 'If she can be there, then I can too,'" Biles told the outlet about Obama. "From the way she pushed boundaries to how she inspired young people to eat better and exercise, she changed so many lives."
Biles has long been considered “a GOAT” athlete in the sports world, which stands for the Greatest Of All Time.
The 4-foot-8-inch-tall athlete is the most decorated gymnast in history, with 41 medals at the world championships and Olympics. At the 2024 Paris Olympics, she brought out bling to back up her title, wearing a necklace with 546 diamonds.
The 29-year-old still has not made a decision on whether she is competing in the 2028 LA Olympics, telling The Associated Press in September, "I don’t know what the decision (is) I should make, but I don’t necessarily have to make it just yet. But I feel like it’s kind of in the works which way I’m leaning towards.”
