The Reds produced a woeful first-half performance and although there was an improvement after the break, they lacked creativity and only had one attempt on target all game as Phil Parkinson's side suffered a fourth Championship defeat in seven outings.
Here's how the players rated.
ANTHONY PATTERSON: Did well to parry a shot but it fell to Brereton-Diaz to score follow-up. Didn’t have many saves to make. 5
DOMINIC HYAM: Was lucky not to concede a first half penalty and was taken off at the interval. 4
JOE WORRALL: The goal was coming in the first half but the defence was able to limit the Blades to just the one. 5
CALLUM DOYLE: Although some of his passes went astray, stuck to his task when Wrexham were under pressure. 5
ISSA KABORE: Saw a lot of the ball on the right but was unable to make the most of it. 5
BEN SHEAF: Sprinted back to make a brilliant challenge in the area on Jordan Ayew, but midfield wasn’t at the races first half. 5
MATTY JAMES: Some good passes and a player who kept going, even if Wrexham were dreadful first half. 6
JACQUES EKOMIE: Started his Wrexham career off so well but has been a lot more effective down the left than this. 5
LEWIS O’BRIEN: First half shot was blocked but apart from that, didn’t make any real impact on the game. 4
OLLIE RATHBONE: Wrexham were awful first half and Rathbone was hauled off at the break. 4
KIEFFER MOORE: Was isolated as lone striker in the first half so having Sam Smith alongside after the interval helped, but he couldn’t take one good chance. 6
SUBSTITUTES
MAX CLEWORTH: One positive was his return from injury and he was sound defensively as well as an outlet in the final third. 6
SAM SMITH: At least Moore had someone to feed off and Smith had Wrexham’s only attempt on target in added time with tame effort. 5
DANNY IMRAY: Got into some good positions but it was tough going all night for the Reds. 5
GEORGE THOMASON: Another player who made his comeback and he gave his all. 5
GEORGE DOBSON: Fresh legs in midfield but Wrexham lacked creativity all game. 4
