The Orlando Magic got more unfortunate injury news on Monday — but it could have been much worse.
Guard Jalen Suggs is out with a right knee bone bruise and will be re-evaluated in two weeks, the Magic announced Monday. An MRI revealed no other structural damage.

Suggs suffered the injury during the fourth quarter of last night’s game at New York.
While that is not ideal, it looked worse when he fell to the court, grabbing his right knee, after it buckled during a transition layup. A defense-first guard, Suggs has battled injuries throughout his six-year career, playing in more than 57 games just once (75 in the 2023-24 season).
Suggs’ injury comes on top of Paolo Banchero being out 4-6 weeks with a high ankle sprain. The health of its core players has been a recurring issue for the Magic for years, with Banchero and Franz Wagner playing only 64 games together across the previous two seasons. The hope was that this season, with new coach Sean Sweeney in place, luck would be on their side.
So far, it’s not ideal, although the Magic did outscore the Knicks 40-27 in the fourth quarter Sunday behind 21 fourth-quarter points by Wagner to pick up their first win of the season (and make New York 0-3).
