Former Leeds Rhinos half-back Matt Frawley, whose difficult spell at Headingley saw him struggle to make an impact, has officially landed a new club, signing with French Super XIII side Albi for the 2026/27 season.
Brought to West Yorkshire with high expectations to anchor the Rhinos’ scrum-half position, Frawley ultimately failed to deliver the consistent creativity and control fans anticipated, struggling to justify his marquee billing during a frustrating stint in Super League.
Now, the 31-year-old Australian playmaker has secured a fresh start across the Channel. Albi officially unveiled their squad roster for the upcoming campaign on social media, confirming Frawley as one of their major overseas additions alongside the likes of former Catalans star Fouad Yaha and former NSW man Matt Soper-Lawler.
While Frawley settles into his new chapter in France, off-contract Super League enforcer Chris Satae is rolling up his sleeves in Perpignan to earn a professional second chance.
The former Hull FC and Catalans Dragons prop finds himself without a deal for next season. Eager to demonstrate his fitness and value to potential suitors, Satae has taken the hands-on step of featuring for Catalans’ reserve outfit, Saint-Estève XIII Catalan, in the French Super XIII competition.
Images shared on social media confirmed the Tongan powerhouse lining up in reserve-grade action as he fights to earn an extended stay with the Dragons or catch the eye of clubs looking to add proven front-row size to their pack ahead of the new campaign.
