With news of the injury to Ohio State’s Julian Sayin, it means that the Trojans will be facing yet another backup quarterback in two weeks
Over the weekend, it was announced that Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin will be out for several weeks. As a result, he is set to miss his team’s matchup with USC on October 31.
Remarkably, this means that the Trojans will face at least three backup quarterbacks this season. Last month, Oregon’s Dante Moore left the Ducks’ game against USC at the Coliseum with an injury and missed the entire second half. In addition, crosstown rival UCLA, who the Trojans will play at the Rose Bowl the final week of the regular season, recently lost starter Nico Iamaleava for the rest of the year.
Obviously, injuries are never something to celebrate, even for the opposing team. However, USC has certainly caught some breaks with opponent quarterback injuries of late, which should at least somewhat help to offset the Trojans’ extremely difficult schedule.
USC was unable to take advantage of the opposing quarterback situation against Oregon, with Ducks backup Dylan Raiola shredding up the Trojans’ secondary. Will that change against Ohio State and UCLA? The answer to that question may very well determine the outcome of USC’s season.
