“I think…” – Liverpool have now been handed massive injury boost before Arsenal clash

Liverpool are preparing to face Arsenal in arguably the biggest game of the season so far, and there has been a big double injury update from Andoni Iraola.

The Reds host the Premier League champions on Sunday afternoon, with Iraola telling reporters that it promises to be a tough assignment for his side:

“I think it’s too early to start looking at the standings. I think it’s about preparing ourselves for a very difficult game. We know Arsenal, we know how good they are, very good players, working a lot, working in synchrony, knowing each other very well and we have to be ready for that challenge.

“I think it’s going to be demanding, the game, but I also trust our players, trust ourselves and in a good atmosphere that for sure we will have on Sunday, I hope we can be at the level to win this game.”

Speaking in his pre-Arsenal press conference, Iraola provided a positive update on Szoboszlai and Munoz, saying both could make the matchday squad:

“I think they have a chance. They have a chance. But I don’t know for sure if they will be involved or not. We still have two days so I think we have a chance, yes.”

Should Dominik Szoboszlai start for Liverpool vs. Arsenal?

Having Szoboszlai and Munoz back would be a big boost for Liverpool, but if they are in the squad against Arsenal, it would be a surprise if either of them started.

Neither will be match fit, and the Anfield clash promises to be a high-octane affair, with Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister likely to start in the double pivot. The impressive Trey Nyoni is also an option.

Meanwhile, Munoz will be behind Bradley Barcola, Cody Gakpo and Rio Ngumoha in the wide pecking order, with the first two the favourites to get the nod on either flank, given their experience.

Liverpool’s team arguably picks itself, with Ronald Araujo continuing at full-back, and Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak returning to the starting XI after being rested at home to Chelsea in the EFL Cup fourth round in midweek.
