France are setting their sights on staging the 2026-2027 UEFA Nations League finals, French Football Federation president Philippe Diallo revealed to newspaper Ouest-France. However, any potential bid hinges strictly on whether Les Bleus can punch their ticket to the semi-finals of the competition.
Managed by Zinedine Zidane, the French have enjoyed a strong start to their group campaign, picking up three wins and a draw across their matches against Turkey, Belgium, and Italy. Should they navigate through the quarter-finals scheduled for March, the Final Four showpiece will take place between 9 and 13 June 2027.
The French proposal puts forward two venues to host the mini-tournament: Lyon's Groupama Stadium and the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in Saint-Etienne. Should UEFA greenlight the bid, it would mark France's first major European football event since the 2022 Champions League final at the Stade de France, an occasion severely marred by security chaos, according to Tribuna.
