PFF’s Week 7 grades identify the five FSU players who received the lowest overall marks in the Seminoles’ 43-35 double-overtime loss to Miami.
Florida State did enough Saturday night to give the Miami Hurricanes everything they could handle, but a 43-35 double-overtime loss still left plenty for the Seminoles to clean up. The latest grades from Pro Football Focus offer a closer look at some of those trouble spots.
Four of FSU’s five lowest overall grades came on defense, where missed tackles, inconsistent run defense and struggles in coverage showed up throughout the night.
Here are Florida State’s five lowest-graded players from the loss to Miami.
Anderson rounds out the bottom five with a 51.3 overall grade in nine defensive snaps. He graded relatively well as a tackler at 71.1, while PFF gave him a 55.4 run-defense grade and a 54.9 pass-rush mark.
LaVallee received a 50.5 defensive grade across 35 snaps. The linebacker earned a 56.3 run-defense grade and a 59.2 pass-rush mark, but his 26.7 tackling grade and 49.9 coverage grade pulled down his overall evaluation.
Knight played 13 defensive snaps and finished with a 50.1 overall grade. His strongest area was tackling, where he earned a 77.9 mark, but PFF gave him a 42.4 coverage grade on four coverage snaps.
Graham finished with FSU’s lowest defensive grade at 44.2 over 29 snaps. His toughest marks came against the run and as a tackler, where PFF graded him at 38.8 and 28.1, respectively, while his 59.7 pass-rush and 53.2 coverage grades were closer to average.
Thomas received the lowest overall grade among Florida State players, finishing at 43.5 across 41 offensive snaps. PFF gave the tight end a 48.0 receiving grade and a 45.6 run-blocking mark, although he graded much better in pass protection at 69.4.
