The NFL has suspended Buffalo Bills defensive back Sam Franklin Jr. for one game without pay for spitting at a player during Sunday's 33-30 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
According to the NFL, the incident occurred with 1:32 left in the fourth quarter after the Raiders' extra point attempt.
Franklin denies the incident ever happened and is planning to appeal, according to WGR550's Sal Capaccio.
The suspension, if upheld, will cause Franklin to miss the Bills’ Week 8 game against the Baltimore Ravens. Buffalo is on their bye week in Week 7. He will be eligible to return for the team's Monday night game against the Minnesota Vikings on Nov. 9.
Franklin is the second Bills player this week to be suspended a spitting incident against the Raiders. On Monday, the league announced that C.J. Gardner-Johnson will miss a game after spitting on the ground towards the feet of Raiders tight end Brock Bowers.
Gardner-Johnson, who was ejected from the game, took responsibility for his actions after the game saying, “I've gotta be a better player. I've gotta be a better vet."
