Alan Shearer has been talking about Eddie Howe taking over at Manchester United.
The Newcastle United and England legend giving his verdict on the issues surrounding this, if it becomes reality.
The Manchester United hierarchy have given Michael Carrick a stay of execution after a disastrous start to the season.
However, this appears to have only delayed the inevitable.
Indeed, many people assuming that this is simply those at Man U wanting to sort a replacement before giving Carrick the push.
Eddie Howe is claimed to be one of the leading candidates for the job, with Manchester United reported to be keen on the brilliant former Newcastle United boss.
Alan Shearer giving his verdict: “I don’t know if Eddie Howe would go in and turn it around at Manchester United, also they would still have to compensate Newcastle. Newcastle would still have a say because with the time left on his contract. Eddie does like control. So, whether he would get enough of that, I don’t know. But it’s Manchester United.”
Alan Shearer going on to say: “I feel uncomfortable when someone’s in a job talking about someone else, but he was Newcastle’s most successful manager in my time and he did an unbelievable job at Newcastle, dragging us out of the relegation zone into great Champions League nights and obviously delivering that trophy. So, he’s a highly talented coach and manager, but we’ve seen many of those go into Man United and fail.”
