Gilberto Mora may have hinted at a move to Liverpool, after the Mexican wonderkid gave a thumbs up to fans who asked about a switch to the Reds.
It followed persistent links surrounding the 18-year-old and a transfer to Anfield, as the club looks to bolster its ranks with the best and brightest young talent for the future.
It's a transfer policy that Liverpool has adopted heavily in recent transfer windows, starting with the academy ranks and working its way up to the senior team.
Youngsters such as Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni have been products of signings from rival academies, with the duo joining from Chelsea and Leicester, respectively.
Meanwhile, there have been other deals, such as the pursuit of Lucca Brughmans, which is aimed at bringing through the next group of superstars for the team.
Mora could be in a similar mold, having shown plenty of quality over the past few months, which will have caught the eye of many teams.
The playmaker impressed during his time at the World Cup with Mexico, despite his lack of experience at such a young age, while he continues to play a key role for his club team, Club Tijuana.
A move has long been touted, with the attacking midfielder turning 18 and now available to move in the January transfer window. Liverpool has been heavily linked, though it remains to be seen whether a deal will be completed in the winter market, with rivals also in the mix.
While the battle between clubs is seemingly heating up behind the scenes, Mora may have hinted at his future move. Fans at the latest Club Tijuana game were present with a Liverpool shirt and asked the star whether he was moving to Liverpool in a TikTok video as he walked down the tunnel.
The youngster gave a thumbs up, which could well hint at a move to Merseyside in the coming months. However, it doesn't fully confirm his decision, as he may not have heard the question and simply responded with a thumbs up to acknowledge those shouting his name.
It seems an unlikely channel for a transfer to be confirmed through, with his agent, Rafaela Pimenta, refusing to be drawn into transfer discussions with the youngster.
Speaking to Record, she said, "Please understand that I don't comment on transfer rumors. I won't say anything at all about the transfer of any player. Thank you very much for your understanding."
It remains to be seen what will follow for Mora in his career, with a major decision to be made about his next move if and when the time comes.
