Today’s win over Everton saw Chelsea without their customary early goal. As was expected, the Blues had to work hard to break down a tough Toffees side.
They managed in the end thanks to some good play down the left by Morgan Rogers and Jorrel Hato which set up Pedro Neto.
The Portuguese also grabbed his team’s second to kill the game, and on TNT Sport pundit Owen Hargreaves was full of praise.
“I thought Morgan Rogers was terrific, Cole Palmer was terrific, Caicedo had a big impact, but the big moments have belong to that man there, Pedro Neto – definitely an unsung hero in this Chelsea team,” Hargreaves noted at full time.
Neto hasn’t always been popular with Chelsea fans – he’s very frustrating to watch at times. But as we all suspected, wing back suits him so much more as a position that being a straight winger. It means the space is ahead of him to use his speed to get into. He doesn’t end up receiving the ball while jammed up against a full back like he used to.
Alonso has also been speaking to the media about next week’s interesting clash against Tottenham.
Neto was the key man today, scoring twice for the Blues and racking up some good stats in the process.
The air was really taken out of the game by the horrible collision which saw Emi Martinez taken off on a stretcher.
