The premier promotion announced the location of their first numbered event of 2027, which is scheduled for January 30.
This past Saturday, the UFC returned to Canada for UFC Edmonton, which was headlined by a welterweight scrap between Mike Malott and Joaquin Buckley.
Malott knocked Buckley out in round two to score his fifth win in a row, once again putting himself close to the welterweight title conversation.
And during the broadcast, the promotion announced that their return to Canada is already set, as they will host the first numbered event of 2027, UFC 336, from Toronto.
The premier promotion announced they are returning to Toronto for UFC 336!
The promotion kicked off their 2026 slate with UFC 324 which was headlined by an interim lightweight title clash between Justin Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett. Although it wasn’t a stellar fight on paper, it turned out to be one of the Fights of the Year. And with the year coming to an end, the promotion seem to have several big options for UFC 336.
Something fans have been calling for for several years now is the return of one-night tournaments, and although it is unlikely that they reintroduce one-night tournaments where a fighter competes multiple times in one night, they could put together an unofficial tournament to set up future fights.
The welterweight division is currently the most stacked division at the top of the rankings, and we have a rare occasion right now where there are six fighters who are ready to fight. Islam Makhachev will likely make his next title defense against Carlos Prates, and that could be an incredible main event to kick off the new year. However, the main card could feature three other welterweight scraps with the winners advancing in their unofficial brackets.
The aforementioned Malott is likely ready for a top five opponent, and he has declared interest in a fight against former champion, Jack Della Maddalena. The Australian isn’t dealing with any injuries and Malott came away from this Saturday’s fight unscathed, meaning it could feature at UFC 336.
Michael Morales and Shavkat Rakhmonov have been linked to fight and having that fight on the card would only help increase the hype levels. Not only that, but the winner of that fight would then be in line to fight the winner of Makhachev vs. Prates, and it always helps when fighters are working on similar timelines.
Last, but not least, could be a clash between Ian Machado Garry and Sean Brady, as the Irishman looks to bounce back from his loss to the Russian champion with another win. And with Brady being predominantly a wrestler, ‘The Future’ could right the wrongs he showed in his title fight.
