Arsenal fans are among the most vocal supporters in football.
There are always a number of opinions on social media. Some make sense, while others go extremely overboard about every little inconvenience.
One such example of the latter is how Arsenal fans reacted to William Saliba missing the official squad photo for the 2026/27 season. The Frenchman had a doctor’s appointment at the same time as the photoshoot, so the Gunners decided to do it without him.
Arsenal supporters were furious and demanded that the club redo the shoot. Their wish is now about to come true.

Mikel Arteta confirmed that Arsenal will redo their official squad photo to accommodate William Saliba after he missed it earlier this week.
This is definitely the right thing to do, but what’s funny is that Gooners think they are the ones who have influenced this decision.
One tweeted: “Gegenpressing was so insane from the fans that we got the retake.”
Another wrote: “Everyone was outraged. It was the first time in this fanbase that everyone faced the same direction, and they listened.”
“Now this is the impact of a fan base. Call out the club when they are getting it wrong,” joked another.
Another Gooner said: “If we had kept quiet about the team group photo Mikel Arteta sat down and took with other players without Saliba, that would have stood. Now they know certain jokes are too expensive for us.”
“Our backlash forced their hand,” wrote another.
The backlash about Saliba missing the squad photo was perhaps a bit childish, but there is a very serious controversy surrounding Arsenal right now.
The Gunners are set to make 60 job cuts after an internal review. That has angered fans, especially as the news comes after Arteta was made the highest-paid manager in the Premier League.
Nobody would’ve really cared in a week’s time if Arsenal had decided against another photoshoot just to accommodate Saliba. It really makes no difference.
What does make a difference is the livelihood of those 60 Arsenal employees. If the Gunners are going to change their minds about anything after fan backlash, it should be over this.
