Liverpool have reportedly initiated contact with Lamine Camara’s representatives as they step up their pursuit of the AS Monaco midfielder ahead of the upcoming winter transfer window.

Camara, 22, was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea over the summer and a €55 million deal was finalised on Transfer Deadline Day before Monaco pulled the plug on the agreement at the last minute.

This enraged the Chelsea hierarchy and it’s understood they are now prioritising a move for Bournemouth star Alex Scott instead, with Camara unlikely to join Xabi Alonso’s side in 2027 as a result.

The Senegal international was also on Liverpool’s radar ahead of the 2026-27 campaign and the Reds have now made contact with his camp, as per a report from The Sun.

It’s reported that Liverpool have asked to be kept informed of any transfer developments, with talks taking place behind the scenes as Andoni Iraola looks to bolster his first-team squad when the January window opens.

While Monaco would prefer a sale next summer, it’s understood that a January transfer can’t be ruled out, with Camara regarded as one of Liverpool’s top midfield targets amid the uncertain long-term future of Argentina international Alexis Mac Allister.

The Anfield giants are also keeping tabs on the aforementioned Scott, although Chelsea are currently the frontrunners to sign the England midfielder and a move to Stamford Bridge appears highly likely in 2027.

Adam Wharton has been touted as a possible Liverpool signing in recent months too, but rumours of a Crystal Palace exit have died down since the summer transfer window closed and it seems as though Camara is more likely to arrive at Anfield next year.

Who will Liverpool sign in 2027?

Camara has racked up 12 appearances across all competitions so far this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist, and he is regarded as one of Liverpool’s top transfer targets for next year.

In addition to finalising a deal for the Senegal star, Liverpool are also expected to prioritise the signing of a new central defender in 2027.

Club captain Virgil van Dijk is currently set to become a free agent next summer and while he could pen fresh terms at Anfield, the club are still eager to land a long-term replacement for the Netherlands star.

The Reds are expected to explore the possibility of triggering the buy-back clause in Jarell Quansah’s contract at Bayer Leverkusen, and they have also been linked with a move for Leeds United defender Tarik Muharemovic in recent weeks.
