Broncos head coach Sean Payton criticized himself for the play call that ended with receiver Jaylen Waddle suffering a chest injury.
There’s now more information available about Waddle’s potential availability for Week 8.
Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Waddle suffered an aggravation of his previous chest injury on the play and his status for Sunday’s game against Kansas City will be determined later.
Whether or not he plays will be based on his practice participation this week.
Waddle, who arrived in Denver via offseason trade, has likely not been as productive as the team envisioned in 2026. While he caught eight passes for 138 yards in the Week 2 win over Jacksonville, he has not eclipsed 50 yards in a game since.
In all, Waddle has 26 receptions for 276 yards with one TD through seven games.
