PNE Fans Sell Out Big London Away Day In Minutes
PNE Fans Sell Out Big London Away Day In Minutes

Preston North End have endured an incredibly difficult season so far with only one win in 12 so far.

Rooted to the bottom of the league on five points, it seems that most are accepting the club’s fate this season as a potential league one club next season.

Despite this, many are still choosing to put their hard-earned money towards the club as they embark on a journey to London, selling out the 3,000 ticket allocation at West Ham on the first day of general sale.

While there was no restrictions or tiered rules for obtaining a ticket, to shell out for a London  away day in this economy is no easy feat for any football fan and should be something that is celebrated rather than ridiculed.

Priced at £30 for adults, that is a more affordable option than most away days in this current climate, that is obviously before the expenses kick in which make even more expensive.

For many, this will be an opportunity to tick off a new ground and create some memories as they hope their side can clinch a win at the London Stadium in a bid to inject some momentum into their season.

Opinion: Why Are We Criticising?

Criticism has been pointed towards this weekend’s Stoke away trip selling quite poorly, with many fans taking to social media complaining about ‘day trippers’ coming out of the woodwork to visit a Premier League standard ground when they don’t bother to go to Sheffield on a rainy Tuesday night.

It’s a pointless endeavour to complain about fans prioritising which game to go to, these decisions are made way in advance with supporters rather making the trip to a new experience than the tried one to Stoke.

The Bet365 Stadium has provided some unbelievable performances down the years and is one of the staples as an away fan to attend given its traditional venue and historic nature in the opposition, but this is likely a fixture that will appear again in the future.

West Ham at the London Stadium has never occurred before, it’s a brand new experience and for many people, the first time they get to see PNE play against ‘The Hammers’.

The last time these two sides faced each other was the 2005 Championship play-off final, meaning a whole new generation will not have had the consciousness to have experienced the heartbreak that the older generation carry, mixing those new and old memories into what could turn out to be a memorable day for the North End faithful.

It’s futile to argue with people because you may have missed out on a ticket, but it’s even more ridiculous to point and name call people for beating you to it.

To be angry at your fellow supporters for going to a game ahead of you is pretty unconstitutional to what it means to be part of the Gentry.
