Stratford Town have formally appealed for their 0-0 draw at Stamford to be replayed, claiming inadequate floodlighting created unsafe and unfair playing conditions.
The Southern League Premier Central fixture took place at the Zeeco Stadium on Tuesday, October 13, with Stratford submitting a formal request to the league and Football Association for the result to be declared void and the match replayed in full.
In a letter sent to both the Southern League and the FA, Stratford chairman Jed McCrory argued that significant areas of the pitch were too dark, with lighting levels allegedly falling below the required 180 lux standard.
The club says the poor visibility affected players' ability to judge the flight and speed of the ball, deal with aerial challenges and make tackles, while also raising concerns about refereeing decisions.
McCrory acknowledged that the referee had spoken to both managers before allowing the match to continue, but argued that this did not override the need for the game to be played under safe conditions.
"The regulations exist to protect the integrity, fairness, and safety of the game, and we respectfully submit that they were not met on this occasion," he wrote.
Stratford have asked the league to investigate the floodlighting provision at the ground, examine any relevant surveys, certification and lighting readings, and consider video and photographic evidence submitted by the club.
The club has also requested that the competition management committee determine whether the lighting met the required standard and order a replay if appropriate.
McCrory warned that the issue could have wider implications for the league table, adding that results under such conditions could affect promotion and relegation.
