Two of the powers in the NFC West have made deals in an attempt to be even better for the second half of the season. The Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers both agreed to trades with the Indianapolis Colts.
The Seahawks acquired eight-time and three-time All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson, sending the Colts their 2027 third-round pick and 2028 fifth-round pick.
Nelson is in the final season of his contract and will be a free agent in 2027 if he is not extended by the Seahawks. He bolsters Seattle's offensive line for the second half of the season. The Seahawks are 4-3.
The 49ers, leading the division at 6-1, acquired defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, a three-time Pro Bowler. They sent the Colts a 2027 fourth-round pick.
Buckner adds to their defensive line, joining Osa Odighizuwa, whom they acquired in an offseason trade. Buckner has four sacks this season. He was drafted by the 49ers in the first round in 2016 and played for them for four seasons before trading him to the Colts in 2020 for a first-round pick.
Thus far, the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams have not made any trades.
The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, November 10.
