Ipswich Town - Fabio Wardley dreams of investing in Blues

The Chantry puncher (20-1-1, 19 KO) will bid to win back the WBO belt he lost to Dubois back in May when they collide at the O2 Arena on Saturday night.

And the 31-year-old, who wears the Town badge and colours into the ring, says he's always wanted to give back to the community, with investing in his beloved Blues a long-term aim.

Suffolk pop superstar Ed Sheeran is Town's most high profile celebrity investor, while NBA legend Udonis Haslem and ex-NFL star Marques Colston have also put money into the club recently.

"I've tried to give back to Ipswich, the community, the town, in my own way, whichever way I can," said Wardley, speaking exclusively to the EADT and Ipswich Star.

"I do a lot of work with the Ipswich Town Foundation, speaking events and working with the kids and things like that.

"And I've done that to try and give back to the club and just other little bits as and where I can to lend my hand and just be your face, and try and do my best for the club."

He grinned: "The financials aren't there yet. I'm not any sort of stakeholder or anything.

"But look, that is another part of the dream. Because to really have a real permanent, strong attachment into the club like that would be something I'd absolutely have.

"So yeah, a few more 02 Arena sell-outs, maybe I need a big Wembley fight or something like that.

"And then I can give Mark (Ashton) a call and do something there."

Both he and Dubois are predicting an early stoppage in Saturday's rematch, and both certainly pack the power to do that.

Wardley, who decked Dubois twice in the first fight before being stopped on his feet in the 11th round, said: “The plan and objective is always to get him out of there as quickly and as soon as possible.

"And if anyone out of the two of us has the more evidence of that, it is me. The knockdown in the first and knockdown in the third. And if I capitalised on those moments, I would have already done that. I would have already ticked that off.

“So, that is always the plan. That is always the objective. I'm not trying to hang around in there and get punched in the head for any longer than I need to.

“But look, if it doesn't go like that, then I'm going to be in there swinging it out until the final bell.”
