Former Michigan State goaltender Trey Augustine is enjoying his first season of professional hockey, playing for the Grand Rapids Griffins. Now, with Michal Postava getting called up to the Detroit Red Wings, he is tasked with being the starting goaltender in Grand Rapids.
On Friday night, in an overtime game against the Cleveland Monsters, Augustine made an unreal save in overtime, stealing a game winning goal away from the visitors from Cleveland.
Unfortunately, the game was lost in a shootout for the Griffins, but a strong 36-save performance from Augustine kept his team in the game.
