Facing a handful of troubling injury updates, the Pittsburgh Steelers unfortunately had to make a big decision regarding one of their up-and-coming wide receivers.
On Saturday, the Steelers announced the decision to place wide receiver Roman Wilson (finger) on injured reserve, with his earliest return date being the team's Week 11 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles on November 22.
Wilson, who was seemingly in the midst of a Year 3 breakout after recording 14 catches for 188 yards and two touchdowns in his first four games, suffered a dislocated finger on his left hand in the Week 5 win over the Indianapolis Colts.
Despite reports indicating he could potentially miss only a few weeks, Wilson will now instead miss the Steelers' next four games on injured reserve. Due to the rule that states bye weeks do not count toward the four-game minimum, Wilson's earliest return will be Week 11.
With Wilson, Ben Skowronek and Michael Pittman Jr. sidelined for the foreseeable future, the Steelers have just DK Metcalf, rookie Germie Bernard, Brandon Johnson, Brandon Smith and rookie return specialist Kaden Wetjen at wide receiver. Here's to hoping the team can pull off a signing or two in the next few weeks to alleviate some of the injury woes.
