Liverpool are being heavily linked with a move to sign Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott next year, as they consider making an addition to that position.

Liverpool do hold an interest in the England international ahead of 2027, according to GIVEMESPORT sources, although it appeared a few weeks ago that a January move had been deemed impossible by the Cherries.

That stance has recently softened and Bournemouth would be open to a deal in the New Year, but it would require a fee of at least £100m to complete a deal for the 23-year-old, and for the south coast outfit to be on course to preserve their Premier League status for another season.

Scott has shown his class for club and country in recent weeks and months, but that is a big outlay for a player who presumably would be available for a smaller fee at the end of the season.

GMS understands that as well as Scott, the Reds also hold an interest in AS Monaco star Lamine Camara, who came close to joining Chelsea on deadline day, and AS Roma's Manu Kone, who is establishing himself as one of France's top midfielders.

Liverpool already have Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister in their midfield ranks, but the emergence of two more means they are likely to be able to wait until next summer to decide what they are going to do next in their engine room.

James McConnell started in the EFL Cup win against Tottenham Hotspur, but it is fellow youngster Trey Nyoni who has really shone in a red shirt.

Nyoni Could Save Liverpool Millions

After some impressive cameos earlier in the season, Andoni Iraola handed Nyoni his first start under him against Tottenham in the EFL Cup last month, and the 19-year-old impressed.

In fact, Liverpool actually looked weaker in midfield when Nyoni and McConnell were replaced by Gravenberch and Szoboszlai against Spurs, but Iraola has largely chosen to go with experience since.

Nyoni was handed another start in the 6-3 win against LASK on Wednesday night, and he didn't look out of place at all on the Champions League stage.

Iraola brought Szoboszlai back into the XI on Saturday at Brentford with Gravenberch suspended, but after the Hungary international suffered a recurrence of his thigh issue in the 32nd minute, Nyoni was brought on to play the remainder of the game.

What is quickly becoming clear is that, compared to some of his midfield teammates, the teenager is happy to play as the holding midfielder and his passing is strong.

It's something that clearly benefits Florian Wirtz, who is being called out consistently for poor performances in a Liverpool shirt.

One of the issues the Germany international is having is a focus on the defensive side of his game, when the likes of Szoboszlai and Mac Allister are attacking and running beyond him at times.

Wirtz impressed in London on Saturday as he covered more ground than anyone else on the pitch, while he also created nine chances for his teammates, which is the most by any player in a Premier League match this season.

One of Nyoni's strengths is that he gets the ball and moves it on quickly, and his presence as a holder allows Wirtz more time to make an impact in the final third.

It's no coincidence that all three of Wirtz's assists this season have come when Nyoni has been on the pitch, and the 19-year-old has only played 267 minutes of football.

He is clearly a future superstar and is already helping to unlock the German and, if he gets more minutes, Wirtz really could explode for the first time in a Liverpool shirt.
