A new report offers up another wide receiver trade option for the Kansas City Chiefs to consider making a move for before the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline.

Heading into the Week 8 NFL schedule, the Chiefs have little to complain about. After a frustrating 6-11 season last year, Kansas City leads the AFC West with a 5-1 record. They have a defense that is giving up the second-fewest points in the league and an offense that has been effective.

However, as we near the trade deadline, adding impact talent to the wide receiver corps would boost KC’s Super Bowl hopes. Especially with Rashee Rice dealing with leg injuries and Tyquan Thornton on the IR.

On Thursday, Tom Pelissero claimed he expects the Chiefs to be “active” before the deadline and “continue to call on receiver trades”, because last week’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks proved “it’s safe to say it’s a need.”

Should Kansas City Chiefs target Calvin Ridley trade?

In recent weeks, the Chiefs have been linked to a variety of wide receivers that have been named in trade rumors. Impact talent like Brian Thomas Jr. and Josh Downs. However, when answering a reader question about the Tennessee Titans in his Thursday report, he suggested veteran receiver Calvin Ridley is the player most likely to be moved by the AFC South team before the deadline.

“He’s older (turns 32 in December), has been involved only sparingly in the offense (just five catches for 81 yards), and plays a position where there’s more trade demand at the moment,” the NFL insider wrote.

Ridley is in year three of a four-year, $92 million pact he signed with the Titans before the 2024 season. When healthy, he has proven throughout his career that he can be a reliable 1,000-plus-yard receiver. However, he has had injury woes over the last six years. While that is a concern, his lack of use and his injury history likely mean the Chiefs could acquire him for as low as a future fifth- or sixth-round pick.

Aside from the health issues, he is still owed $29 million next season. But he has far less guaranteed money, and the Chiefs can get out of the deal if it doesn’t work out. Yet, if he can make a major impact in Kansas City, he is locked into another season, and his overall cost could be cut down via a bonus from a contract restructure.
