According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 in Houston, the Philadelphia Eagles released former Kansas City Chiefs running back Dameon Pierce on November 6 ahead of the 2026 NFL trade deadline.
Pierce — who entered the league as a fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft — played for the Chiefs last season after a three-year stint with the Houston Texans.
The former Florida Gators standout signed a one-year contract with Philadelphia in March and was briefly released by the Eagles after training camp before rejoining the team's practice squad.
Wilson's report on Pierce indicated that Philadelphia had released the veteran with an injury settlement:
Kansas City isn't likely to be in the market for a new running back, given the breakout performances of Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III and rookie Emmett Johnson, but Chiefs fans should monitor Pierce's status if the team suddenly finds itself in need of a capable rusher late in the regular season.
