Hyeongyu Oh will return to Celtic Park next week when Beşiktaş face Martin O’Neill’s side in the Europa League..

The South Korean was on the bench for Monday night’s Turkish league match against İstanbul Başakşehir, but he didn’t have to wait long to make his mark.

And as the Europa League clash with Beşiktaş becomes a win at all costs game for Celtic, Oh appears to have hit form at the right time for the Turks.

Hyeongyu Oh scores in Beşiktaş win ahead of Celtic clash

Beşiktaş manager Vincenzo Italiano sent Oh on for Wilfred Ndidi in the 65th minute with the score at 0-0. Eleven minutes later, Oh scored.

Dušan Vlahović headed the ball forward near the halfway line, and Oh beat the Başakşehir defence to it. He held off a challenge, rounded goalkeeper Muhammed Şengezer and rolled the ball into the empty net with his left foot.

Oh had already tested Şengezer with a shot just a minute after coming on. Junior Olaitan scored Beşiktaş’s second in the 89th minute as the hosts ran out 2-0 winners.

The goal was Oh’s first in the Turkish league this season and his fourth in all competitions.

Oh’s Europa League goals show Celtic what to expect

The former Celtic striker scored twice in Beşiktaş’s 3-2 Europa League win over Hoffenheim on October 15. Oh also assisted Amir Murillo for the opening goal that night, having started the match alongside some familiar names, including former Rangers defender Rıdvan Yılmaz.

Beşiktaş have taken seven points from their opening three European matches, beating Marseille 4-1 and Hoffenheim 3-2 before drawing 2-2 with Crystal Palace.

The Turkish side have scored nine goals in the competition, although they have conceded five. Crystal Palace’s 2-2 draw with Beşiktaş also showed O’Neill’s side that the visitors can be troubled defensively.

Oh’s goal against Başakşehir came after Italiano replaced a defensive midfielder with another striker, allowing the South Korean to play alongside Vlahović.

That is another option the Beşiktaş manager has when his side arrive in Glasgow next Thursday.

Oh has already scored twice and registered an assist in this season’s Europa League.

Celtic have managed just three goals in the competition altogether.
