Vikings NFL Mock Draft: What needs do they have after their Bye Week?

The Minnesota Vikings are 5-0, having spent the past week on a bye to help heal up their offense. Kevin O'Connell is still trying to adjust his offense to a run-heavy approach that features more pistol and shotgun looks for Kyler Murray, who missed nearly two full games due to a concussion at the start of the season.

Entering Monday night, the Vikings rank 27th in total yards and are tied for 24th in EPA/play, with an offense that has shown promise recently but remains the squad's weakest link. Still, although the defense is ranked 1st in EPA/play allowed and DVOA, many of the best players are veterans, meaning a youth movement could be needed for future iterations of the unit.

At 5-0, the Vikings are slated to select the 30th overall pick. That could lead to some interesting maneuvering from general manager Nolan Teasley, who took the job late in May after last April's draft. Here's a three-round 2027 mock for the Vikings, which includes two third-round picks due to the Jonathan Greenard trade.

Vikings NFL Mock Draft Monday: What needs do they have after their Bye Week?

Round 1, Pick 30: CJ Carr, QB, Notre Dame

I'm a Murray defender, but he is still only signed to a one-year deal. Concerns about his scheme fit likely won't go away, and even if they do, it may be hard for O'Connell and company to pass up one of the many talented quarterbacks in next year's class. Carr and Ohio State's Julian Sayin are available here, and I go with the Notre Dame product, who stands 6-foot-2, weighs 215 pounds, and has thrown 16 touchdowns and only one interception through seven games in 2026. Even if Murray were to come back, Carr, a redshirt sophomore, could stand to sit on the bench and develop.

Round 2, Pick 62: A.J. Holmes Jr., DL, Texas Tech

The Vikings took Caleb Banks and Domonique Orange in the first and third rounds last year, but there has been speculation that they may still be in the market for an interior lineman before next month's trade deadline. Minnesota adds Holmes, a 6-foot-3, 300-pound lineman who has a 17.7% pass-rush win rate so far in 2026

Round 3, Pick 77: Justin Evans, C, Nebraska

Blake Brandel has filled in admirably at center, but the Vikings could use a true center to lock down the position long term. Evans is 6-foot-2 and 315 pounds, and played left guard in 2024 but moved to center in 2025. He has yet to allow a pressure in 2026, per PFF, and hasn't allowed a sack since 2024.

Round 3, Pick 94: Nyck Harbor, WR, South Carolina

I'm going to continue trusting that Jauan Jennings improves, but he is still on a one-year deal and could be gone after the season even if he bounces back. Harbor stands 6-foot-5 and 239 pounds, providing the type of big-bodied receiver Minnesota hasn't had in a while. He has caught 17 of 37 targets for 278 yards and two touchdowns so far this season.
