Jalen Duren, the Pistons’ All-NBA center and anchor in the middle on both ends of the court, will miss at least two weeks with a strained right hamstring, the team announced on Sunday.

Duren left Detroit’s game against Miami in the second quarter, after a drive to the rim against Giannis Antetokounmpo where he instantly grabbed at the back of his leg and asked to be taken out of the game.
Duren scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the Pistons’ season-opening win against Boston. He will now miss games against the 76ers, Knicks and others. Duren had a dramatic offseason contract standoff with the Pistons that drew headlines and ended with him signing a five-year, $200 million contract with the team. After returning, Duren said all that drama was behind him and his focus was on helping a team that won 60 games a season ago take a step forward.
Paul Reed will start in Duren’s place and get heavy minutes there, with Tolu Smith getting some run. Don’t be surprised if coach JB Bickerstaff tries some small-ball lineups with John Collins at the five.
