The sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo has drawn a positive response from swathes of West Ham United fans following an underwhelming start to their Championship campaign.

While it is important to stress that not every individual feels the same way, Nuno rarely seemed like a natural fit among West Ham fans, and his departure is unlikely to force too many tears here in east London.

West Ham fans react positively to club’s decision to sack Nuno

Hammers News readers and subscribers on TalkingPoints were broadly in agreement with the club’s decision to part ways with a manager who rarely seemed to convince he was the right man for the job. That speaks volumes about the feeling among many supporters, who just did not see a bright future under him.

We should never of kept him on after relegation the teams he picked playing players out of their natural positions. He could only play counter attacking football and gave the opposition the initiative every game! I’m so relieved that he’s been sacked as I’ve never felt so low being a west ham fan for over 50 years. Let’s pay wales fa 700k and get BELLAMY in

Some felt as if his brand of football wasn’t right for West Ham, who undoubtedly have one of the best squads in the Championship. On paper, they should be dominating games far more often and while there were a few big wins under Nuno‘s watch this season, genuinely good performances were few and far between.

Among the other responses, fans suggested that his departure should – hopefully at least – see forgotten players such as Edson Alvarez, Maxwel Cornet and Soungoutou Magassa brought back into the fold.

About time! Should mean Alverez, Areola and Magassa back involved and no place for Pablo who wouldn’t get picked for any other top half team in the championship. Hopefully sort out our defensive issues and play a forward who will score.
