Former India women’s national cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur became emotional during an interview after smashing a stunning unbeaten 91 against the Zimbabwe women’s national cricket team in the third and final T20I on Tuesday (October 20) in Raipur.
The 37-year-old batter could not control her tears while speaking to former India women's head coach WV Raman, which left many in split as she has recently left the captaincy. Earlier, Watch: Smriti Mandhana snubs handshake with Harmanpreet Kaur, rift rumours resurface.
Harmanpreet Kaur stepped down as India's captain across all three formats before the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe at home. Her brilliant knock came at a time when she was looking to regain her batting form, as she had not scored a half-century in her previous 10 matches.
Despite her struggles, India had won both the Women's T20 Asia Cup and gold at the Asian Games 2026 in Japan. But she finally made a stunning comeback to her form. Harmanpreet smashed an unbeaten 91 off just 41 balls, hitting 10 fours and five sixes.
She looked in excellent touch and enjoyed her time at the crease after a difficult period with the bat. Eventually, the former Indian captain’s knock helped the team win the final T20I by 92 runs as they whitewashed Zimbabwe 3-0 in the home series in Raipur.
During the interview, Harmanpreet Kaur became emotional while speaking to WV Raman. She thanked the former India women's coach for encouraging her to play freely and enjoy her batting without putting extra pressure on herself.
She also expressed happiness at getting enough time in the middle and playing her natural game. Amid this, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi can't walk straight into India team, says Shreyas Iyer.
Harmanpreet said during the innings break, as quoted by ANI, "It feels great. Just wanted to enjoy myself, and it was great that I got some time in the middle and really enjoyed myself on the field. I just wanted to enjoy myself, just wanted to bat as long as possible, and I'm glad that I was able to do that.”

The former Indian captain added, “I think I should give credit to you also (to WV Raman). The moment we came, you stepped in, and you said, ‘Now you do what you want to do,' and that's what I want to do, and I really want to enjoy myself. Thanks for those words.”
She revealed that she spent extra time practicing after the Asian Games 2026 and thanked her batting coach, Himanshu, for working hard with her. Kaur added, “After the Asian Games, I got some time in the nets. I really want to thank Himanshu Bhaiya (her batting coach), who's been working really hard on me, and today's batting was all him.”
Harmanpreet could control her emotion as she was giving credit to her batting coach. She tried hard to complete her interview, and even she was seen vaping her tears but eventually returned the mike to the broadcasters and left the stage in the middle of the interview during the innings break.
