The Bills got a win against the Ravens at home on Sunday, and kicker Tyler Bass booted his way into the franchise's history books in the process.
Buffalo held the lead throughout their 36-10 victory over the Baltimore Ravens at Highmark Stadium Sunday afternoon. And along with another big offensive day, the afternoon was highlighted by a historic special teams milestone thanks to Bass, who kept racking up points himself.
With his scoring performance from distance, Bass officially claimed the franchise record for consecutive field goals with 19, surpassing Ryan Lindell to etch his name into the Bills' history books.
The milestone came following a crucial momentum swing in the first half. In the second quarter, rookie cornerback Davison Igbinosun recorded his first career interception off a tipped pass, giving Buffalo's offense a short field. Bass made sure it did not go to waste, stepping up to convert a 51-yard field goal to extend the Bills' lead to 16-7.
The record-breaking kick marks a massive turnaround for a kicker returning from a lost season. Bass has recaptured the form that previously made him a reliable fixture at one time in Buffalo's scoring attack. As he returned to the team this season following an injury that kept him out much of last year, his teammates and coaches reaffirmed their confidence in him after he delivered a 45-yard overtime game-winner against the Los Angeles Rams.
“That's who T-Bass is,” quarterback Josh Allen said of his kicker following that win. “We trust him implicitly.”
With the win, Buffalo improves to 6-1 on the season as they head into next week's matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.
