Ja'Marr Chase brought his frustration into the Cincinnati Bengals' locker room at halftime Sunday.
Trailing the Baltimore Ravens 13-0, the star receiver demanded more from an offense that had struggled throughout the opening two quarters and reminded his side of the ball to stop relying on the defense.
"I was pretty angry coming into halftime. I didn't like how we played," Chase said, via CLNS Media's Mike Petraglia. "And I told our offense, we can't look at our defense the whole time. We gotta step this s*** up and make something work."
The Bengals responded with 35 unanswered points, turning that halftime deficit into a 35-13 road victory.
Cincinnati managed only 59 yards and two first downs before halftime. After the break, the Bengals produced 298 yards and 19 first downs while Baltimore failed to score.
Chase finished with five catches for 62 yards and a touchdown. Joe Burrow threw four touchdown passes, all in the second half, as Cincinnati improved to 4-2.
Spearheading that emotional locker-room message was something Chase did before, though this speech had one difference.
"I've done it before, and I cried last time, but I didn't cry this time," he said.
