Marvin Harrison Jr made his Houston Texans debut on Sunday afternoon as he featured in the team's victory against AFC South rivals Jacksonville Jaguars in London.
After a very slow start to the 2026 season, the Texans struck a deal to acquire Harrison earlier this week. The Texans gave up 2027 second-round and seventh-round picks in exchange for Harrison and a 2027 sixth-round pick.
The fourth overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft joined up with his new teammates in London in midweek, taking part in his first practice with the side on Wednesday.
Despite his limited knowledge of the playbook, Texans Head Coach DeMeco Ryans confirmed ahead of the game at Wembley Stadium that the 24-year-old would make his debut.
Ryans was true to his word as Harrison went on to see plenty of snaps in north London. The Ohio State graduate played a pivotal role in the Texans' 34-31 triumph.
When Harrison was drafted in 2024, many viewed him as a generational prospect that would go on to have a long and successful career, like his father, who is a Hall of Famer.
While he didn't live up to expectations at the Cardinals, Texans fans are hoping he can fulfill his potential while catching passes from his college quarterback, CJ Stroud. He showed what he is capable of in a promising performance on his debut.
After sitting out of the Texans' first two drives, Harrison got his first taste of action on their third drive in a play that turned out to be a run.
He saw more action on their fourth drive. He produced a terrific catch over the middle of the field which went for 15 yards, holding on to the football despite taking a big hit from Jaguars safety Eric Murray.
He was targeted again on the very next play, but Stroud's pass was broken up by Jarrian Jones.
Harrison was more involved in the Texans' first drive of the second half. He caught a 14-yard pass, and then a few plays later caught another for a gain of six yards. Both resulted in a first down.
He didn't record another reception as he ended his day with three catches for 34 yards.
There has been a strong reaction to his performance on X (formerly Twitter). Many NFL fans are excited about his future with the Texans and are confident he will be a success.
"Marvin Harrison Jr is so back it’s good to see," one fan said, while a second commented: "Marvin Harrison already looks way better on the Texans compared to the Cardinals."
A third wrote: "Marvin Harrison Jr looks like a totally different player under CJ Stroud." A fourth stated: "Wow, a team is using Marv Harrison correctly and he’s having success. What a shocker."
A fifth said: "Marvin Harrison is going to be a problem in Houston," while a sixth very excited fan wrote: "Marvin Harrison Jr. is going to be a Hall of Famer, I’ve seen enough. As much as it sucks."
Another said: "Marvin Harrison Jr. is about to take the WR1 job away from Nico Collins."
Harrison will likely play a bigger role when the Texans, who have improved to 2-4, welcome New York Giants to NRG Stadium on Sunday, October 25.
