According to The i Paper, Manchester United remain interested in Newcastle’s Lewis Hall.
The 20-time English champions are planning a major defensive rebuild after a disappointing start to the season exposed weaknesses at the back, having accepted that the defence should have been strengthened during the summer transfer window. Preparations are already underway for significant changes in 2027, and the left-back position is the biggest priority.
Hall remains a key target after United failed to secure his signature in the summer. Newcastle’s refusal to sell forced United to abandon their pursuit, but the England international is still highly regarded at Old Trafford.
Adrien Truffert of Bournemouth has also been identified as an alternative option. The French defender is admired by United’s recruitment team, although the club expects strong competition for his signature.
The overhaul could also involve notable departures. Lisandro Martinez is reportedly considering a move away from Old Trafford, with clubs in Spain continuing to track his situation, while questions remain over Luke Shaw’s future as his contract approaches its final stages.
Meanwhile, Harry Maguire is expected to stay, with United likely to activate the extension option in his current deal.
