The 2026 Mexico Grand Prix was not short of stories, with the Ferrari team once again being the centre of conversations as their driver pairing cost themselves a potential one-two finish in Mexico City.

Discussions about the incident between the drivers went on all afternoon, with one making his feelings more known than the other.

However, an eagle-eyed journalist has revealed what Charles Leclerc really felt like after spotting him with a 'face like thunder' in Ferrari's hospitality.

Through the first three corners of the race, the Ferrari pairing found themselves in P1 and P2 with a chasing Max Verstappen just behind them. As they approached turn four, Leclerc attempted a move around the outside which damaged the team's hopes as both drivers exited the track.

Hamilton came out of the incident the worst of the two, falling from P1 to P3, as Verstappen made his way up into second place. Leclerc, on the other hand, was able to move into P1 and drive off into an early lead.

The Monegasque driver chose not to hand the position back to Hamilton, with Verstappen now in P2, meaning he was handed a five-second penalty instead, which his teammate was incredibly unhappy about.

The five-second penalty handed the lead to Verstappen, who was then able to secure the victory, but it was Hamilton who spent the afternoon making his feelings known, suggesting the five-second penalty wasn't harsh enough due to clean air benefits.

Hamilton even went on the team radio during the race to explain that his team had 'big problems, big, big, problems,' which sparked further conversation about the division between the two drivers.

Discussion from Hamilton continued even after the race, with the seven-time World Champion expressing his disappointment that the team had cost themselves a race victory in Mexico and called for more rules of engagement from Ferrari.

Although Leclerc's opinion on the situation was much more muted than his more senior teammate's, journalist Edd Straw has given an insight into the emotions of the Monegasque driver as he was spotted entering Ferrari's hospitality.

"This is what Fred Vasseur is going to talk to them about behind closed doors. He's not going to talk to them like naughty school children. He's not going to take that approach, but I am convinced he will be forceful, he knows how to do it," Straw said on The Race YouTube channel.

He went on to reveal an exclusive look into the post-race emotions of Leclerc, stating: "Funnily enough, as we were coming out of, there's a room in the back of the Ferrari hospitality, a little group of us, Charles Leclerc arrived.

"Face like thunder, I think it is fair to say, he didn't look very happy, marched into the driver's room at the back, and Fred Vasseur went in after him."

Straw has also revealed that as Leclerc was walking with his 'face like thunder,' Hamilton was conducting a post-race interview which may have heated things up even more for the Ferrari pairing.

"That's where the conversations began, and at about the same time, the press conference was starting where Lewis Hamilton was continuing to presumably take what he thought was his very strong position and twist the knife a little bit," he also revealed.

It is expected that Fred Vasseur will share some harsh words with his experienced driver pairing, who, with a one-two finish, could've seen themselves make moves in the Drivers' Championship.

Hamilton, who sits in third place, would have jumped into second place if he had won the race in Mexico City, while his teammate could've climbed higher than his current fifth place if he finished second.

Hamilton now finds himself just two points behind Verstappen as the fight for a Drivers' Championship podium finish continues.
