The Dallas Cowboys gave their frustrated fans another reason to be upset during their Week 6 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. A clock-management mistake by tight end Jake Ferguson in the final seconds of the first half cost Dallas a chance to run one more play before halftime, sparking widespread criticism on social media.

Cowboys Fans Blast Jake Ferguson After Costly Clock Management Mistake

With 18 seconds left before halftime and no timeouts remaining, Dak Prescott completed a short pass to Jake Ferguson. Instead of getting the ball back to the officials so they could spot it for a potential spike to stop the clock, Ferguson held onto it and moved away from the line of scrimmage.

The delay cost Dallas a chance to run another play and potentially get into scoring range before halftime. It didn’t take long for Cowboys fans to call out the mistake on social media.

One fan criticized Ferguson’s lack of awareness, writing, “Saw this and laughed about it in real time. [He got his] starting spot snatched and still could not be more clueless.”

Others used the incident to question the team’s overall preparation. Analyst Marcus Mosher was particularly critical of Dallas’ coaching staff, writing, “They are just so poorly coached in every phase.”

Reporter Tom Downey shared a similar assessment, writing, “Just so fitting for this poorly coached team.”

Analyst Connor Livesay was even more blunt in his reaction, writing, “Dumbest team in sports. For every year of my life.”

Another fan questioned what the Cowboys were doing during practice, asking, “What do they work on during the week?”

The frustration continued to build, with one commenter writing, “God, I hate this team.”

One fan even called for Ferguson to be released, posting, “I wish we could cut him.”

The mistake added to Dallas’ frustrations as the team entered halftime trailing 17-0.

Cowboys Fail to Overcome Early Mistakes Against Packers

The Cowboys managed just 48 rushing yards throughout the game, while Dak Prescott was sacked once and threw two interceptions. Brandon Cisse and Evan Williams came up with the interceptions for Green Bay.

Ferguson, who ranks No. 34 in the league with a PFN TE Impact Score of 68.0, later recovered Cooper Beebe’s fumble in the third quarter, preventing a turnover. Still, Dallas struggled to find consistency on offense.

CeeDee Lamb finished with nine receptions for 70 yards, while George Pickens added six catches for 73 yards. Despite their efforts, the Cowboys couldn’t close the gap.

Dallas showed some fight in the second half, scoring 13 points on a Javonte Williams rushing touchdown and a Ryan Flournoy receiving touchdown.

However, Green Bay maintained control with three field goals from Trey Smack, including two in the second half. The Packers eventually secured a 23-13 victory, leaving the Cowboys with more questions about their execution.

Dallas will have a chance to respond next week when it visits the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football.
