Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride brutally taunted Dallas Cowboys rookie Caleb Downs, with a FOX Sports microphone picking up his words.
The Cardinals defeated the Cowboys in dramatic fashion after being down 14 points in the fourth quarter, with backup quarterback Gardner Minshew leading the offense down the field to send the game to overtime before a drive to kick a game-winning field goal.
But a moment earlier in the game drew plenty of attention when McBride beat Downs, whom Jerry Jones personally chose as their first-round pick, on an out-route before trash-talking the defensive back, with millions viewing the viral video.
It was a crisp route from one of the best tight ends in the league, who then realized the player covering him and letting him hear it.
McBride said, "You're a first-rounder? First-round pick for what? A first-round pick..."
Downs was indeed drafted with a first-round pick by the Cowboys this past year. The former Ohio State player was seen as the best defensive back in this past year's draft, and the rookie has performed well so far.
After they made the draft pick, Jones said, "I've been brainwashed over how bad we need a nickel around here this whole spring.
"Was it going to be a corner nickel or was it going to be a safety nickel? We didn't know it was going to be quarterback-of-the-defense nickel. And that's what you've got here."
And while Downs has impressed, he was no match for one of the best tight ends in the league, McBride, who had 72 yards and seven catches in the game.
McBride leads all tight ends in yards this season, just 17 more than Brock Bowers behind him.
The loss for Dallas could be catastrophic, losing another home game they'd been big favorites to win - after falling to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and undrafted rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels in October.
The Cowboys have now fallen to 3-5, while the New York Giants could take a big lead in the NFC East, being 1.5 wins ahead of them in the division.
Dallas will face the struggling Indianapolis Colts next weekend in a game they'll feel is a must-win, with their opponents looking likely to trade Jonathan Taylor after moving Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals will travel to face the Seattle Seahawks in a big division game, with a win keeping their season and their unlikely playoff hopes alive.
