JJ Gabriel secures European Union passport before United exit

JJ Gabriel has reportedly secured a European Union passport to help ease leaving Manchester United for a club outside of England.

BBC Sport claims that is the case, with the expectation that being an EU passport holder will make moving to the continent next year easier. However, it is not made clear whether it is a Cypriot or Irish passport.

Gabriel's mother is from Cyprus, with his paternal grandmother from Ireland. His father, Joe O'Cearuill, represented the latter after qualifying through his mother, and could also have opted for Trinidad and Tobago, as his father was from the larger island.
