The Golden State Warriors have signed, drafted, and traded for players from nearly every U.S. state and many countries around the world. From Alaska to Wyoming and Austria to Zaire, the Warriors have a strong history of seeking out talent necessary for NBA success.

Since their beginnings in the Basketball Association of America (a precursor to the NBA) when they got their start as the team representing Philadelphia before they made their move to the West Coast, the organization has consistently pursued talent from a broad range of sources.

For this installment of our series taking stock of the birthplace of every Golden State player to suit up for the franchise, let's take a look at every player from California who has played for the Warriors.

Our focus in this article is Matt Barnes. An alum of UCLA, he was picked up with the 46th overall selection of the 2002 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies. The Santa Clara, California native played the first season of his pro career with the Los Angeles Clippers instead.

He also played for the Sacramento Kings, New York Knicks, and Philadelphia 76ers before he signed with the Dubs in 2006. His first stay with the team lasted until he signed with the Phoenix Suns in 2008, stints with the Phoenix Suns, Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers, Grizzlies, and Sacramento Kings before he re-signed with the Dubs for the last season of his career in 2017.

During his time suiting up for the Warriors, Barnes put up 8.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.
