The New York Giants are playing in an injury fest against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are dealing with a host of injuries, but so are the Giants. Most players on their injury report this week no longer have an injury designation, but starting running back Cam Skattebo is listed as doubtful.
Skattebo’s hamstring injury occurred during New York’s overtime win against the Houston Texans. He had a bye week to recover, but it wasn't enough time. Skattebo couldn't practice until Friday, but he still practiced in a limited capacity.
With Skattebo out, Najee Harris being released, and Tyrone Tracy on injured reserve, the Giants will rely on Devin Singletary, who had the game-winning touchdown against Houston. This also fuels speculation that New York may be in the market for a running back, since they are currently first in the NFC East and have a mediocre run game. An upgrade at that position could also help quarterback J.J. McCarthy.
A win on Sunday against the Eagles could help keep New York in first place in the division. The Dallas Cowboys are second in the East with a 3-5 record and face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
